Chanel’s range of long wear luminous eyeshadow, Illusion D’Ombre hit the stores quite some time ago, however I am very late to jump on this bandwagon.  Very out of character for me!  The tipping point was when I watched a YouTube video by CamiLovesKiwi and the young lass chose to wear the black sparkly shade as a liner.  Gorgeous!  I immediately jumped online and ordered the darkest shade 85 Mirifique, and I’m so glad I did!

Here is Mirifique crudely swatched on my hand, in natural sunlight.  You can apply the colour intensely or you can smoke it out for a more subtle effect.

In the photo below I’m sporting Mirifique as eyeliner, applied with a synthetic angled brush similar to a MAC266.  The colour is a lovely smokey alternative to a harsh black gel liner.  I love it!  Also on my eyelids is a Chanel soft touch eyeshadow colour single, Ombre Essentielle in the colour 90 Fauves.

Using Mirifique along the lash line makes this a wearable look for work as the sparkle is not overwhelming.

Chanel says: “This intensely shimmering long-wear eyeshadow offers true versatility. An innovative gel texture that is both soft and cushiony allows it to be worn as eyeshadow or eyeliner. Includes a specially designed shadow/liner brush, developed specifically for this unique formula.”

These Chanel shadows do everything they promise, and I have already ventured out to purchase more shades.  Price in the US $36.  Australian retail pricing is AUD $48 and you can purchase from Myer or David Jones stores.  If you are a sassy shopper and buy from Max’s in Norfolk Island, the price is a more palatable AUD $36.
